Laser Engraving

Laser engraving is a process in which we can engrave photo-realistic images on a substrate. Our machine has a work area of 4' x 8', allowing us to engrave large materials such as doors and cabinetry.  We can engrave on materials such as granite, marble, glass, acrylic, wood, metals and even leather.
We also have the ability to cut through some materials such as wood and acrylic.

What is the difference between granite, marble and slate?  These three stone all produce beautiful images when engraved.  The main difference in the stone we use is the hardness of the material.  Granite, marble and slate are organic materials and are formed in different ways.  Granite is the hardest of these materials.  Only dark, tight-grained granites work well for laser engraving.  Our preferred choice is a deep black granite.  This granite is quarried in Africa, India and China.  The black granite quarried in the United States contains larger grain and verigation that, while beautiful, is less desirable for laser engraving.  Due to the hardness of the granite it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor application.  We use granite for all our outdoor products such as sign, monuments and benches.  Marble is much softer which produces a much more detailed image than granite.  We use BVM, which is a black marble without the white streaks often found in marble.  The limitation is that marble is only suitable for indoor applications.  Slate is similar to marble in both softness and image quality.  We use a medium gray slate that produces a frosty white image.
